SLOVAKIA and SLOVENIA – A new project to support homeless people

“Bridges of change”, a new transnational project that unites the capitals of Slovakia and Slovenia

The project aims to contribute to improving the health and social situation of homeless people in Bratislava, Slovakia, by strengthening the ongoing project “Nadej – Hope for the Homeless” and enriching it with a dimension
transnational with the implementation of similar activities in favor of the homeless population of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The project is in harmony with local intervention strategies and in accordance with SDGs n.1, 3 and 11. The target groups to which the project is addressed in the two countries present health difficulties (difficulty in accessing medical care, exposure to risks related to the life context, psychological difficulties) and social difficulties (deficiencies in the prevention of marginalization, lack of support in social and housing emergency situations) inter-related with each other.

The project, supported by the Intesa Sanpaolo Charity Fund and social and cultural works and developed in collaboration with the Municipality of Bratislava, the Municipality of Ljubljana and the Slovenian Ministry of Health, is part of a multi-year intervention strategy of Doctors for Peace in the area and aims to progressively strengthen the tools already activated on site by local partners, OZ Vagus (Slovakia) and Kralji Ulice (Slovenia).
