Doctors for Peace was founded in 2001 as an association of doctors and nurses, but among the volunteers there are now also professionals of the most varied skills, housewives, retirees, young people, university students, and many others! What unites us all is the desire to dedicate some of our time to something worth committing to.

As a Doctors for Peace volunteer, you will be able to support project activities in different areas:

• Healthcare (volunteer dentists and specialist doctors who visit the beneficiaries; accompaniment of the beneficiaries to medical offices; health professionals who support MpP in the execution of health projects, etc.)
• Social (tutoring of needy families; etc.)
• Educational (after-school activities; school counselor; accompaniment of school interviews; etc.)
• Bureaucratic / administrative (accompaniment of beneficiaries for administrative/health regularizations; etc.)
• Events (fundraising activities; setting up information points; communication; etc.)

At its headquarters in Verona, Doctors for Peace welcomes trainees and young volunteers of the universal civil service.

Internships

As a Doctors for Peace trainee, you will be able to support the activities of the office:

Civil Service

During the civil service with Doctors for Peace, you will be able to learn about the functioning of a volunteer organization, in its different aspects:

To strengthen our team we are looking for a person to be included with the role of Project Officer, who can contribute to the design, management, monitoring and reporting of our projects in Italy and abroad.

We are looking for an autonomous, organized and concrete person, able to move between design, operational management, relations with partners and administrative activities, maintaining an overview of the project and its results.

The location

The selected person will have a transversal role along the different phases of the project cycle: from the search for funding opportunities to the design, from the initiation and implementation of activities to monitoring and reporting.

In particular, he/she will be responsible for:

• monitor calls and funding opportunities consistent with the mission and activities of the organization;
• contribute to the writing and presentation of project proposals, in collaboration with the internal team and any partners;
• define, in collaboration with the area coordinator, activities, time schedules, indicators, expected results and budget;
• follow the implementation of projects, monitoring activities, deadlines, results and critical issues;
• maintain operational relationships with partners, funding bodies, consultants and other stakeholders;
• prepare and update the project documentation;
• contribute to the drafting of narrative and financial reports and project reporting;
• collaborate with the administrative area for the monitoring of expenses and the correct document management;
• participate in meetings, working groups and networking activities with public and private entities;
• contribute to the collection and systematization of the data necessary for the monitoring and evaluation of projects;
• support the development of new designs and partnerships.

The profile we are looking for

We are looking for a person who has already gained experience in project management, preferably within NGOs, third sector entities, foundations, social cooperatives or similar organizations.

The following are required:

• qualification consistent with the required skills;
• experience, even minimal, in project design and/or management;
• excellent knowledge of Project Cycle Management and the main design tools;
• experience, even minimal, in budget preparation, project reporting, cash flow management and management control;
• ability to work in compliance with deadlines, procedures and requirements of the different funders;
• knowledge of the reporting and financial management procedures of the main donors (Presidency of the Council of Ministers, EU, private foundations, etc.);
• excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
• ability to work independently and, at the same time, in collaboration with teams and partners;
• excellent writing and communication skills;
• excellent knowledge of the English language;

The following are preferential qualifications:

• knowledge of monitoring and evaluation tools;
• knowledge of a second foreign language;
• experience in the use of accounting software.
