“SINERGIE” – Socio-psycho-pedagogical support for the educating community

Doctors for Peace works in partnership with the Karma Tegsum Tashi Ling Center and the “Giovanni Giorgi” secondary school in the implementation of the “SINERGIE” project, with the aim of providing tools and resources of a socio-pedagogical nature that respond to the most urgent needs expressed by teachers and minors.

The context

School represents an important moment of life, not only because it is the place where skills and knowledge are acquired, but it is also where relationships of integration-social interaction are established. The goal is to enhance the school as a place of opportunities, not only didactic, but also of inclusive relationships and activities in the community. Learning, experimenting, discovering one’s skills and developing one’s skills is difficult for children who live in family conditions of poverty and marginalization. The needs of children in fragile conditions require support both in the school and extracurricular context and prevent forms of discomfort such as a sense of isolation and low self-esteem. In particular, the general objective of the project is to support the educating community – made up of teachers, families and the territory – in the management of difficulties arisen, or aggravated, from the emergency context through first-level pedagogical, psychological and social interventions accompanied by a subsequent strengthening of personal and Institute resilience.

Activities

Doctors for Peace offers free of charge, to the recipients of the intervention, the following pedagogical, socio-educational and psychological assistance services defined by category of beneficiaries involved:

Teachers
– Support teachers in the psycho-pedagogical management of urgent difficulties expressed by students;
– Supporting the school in the construction of an Institute Educational Plan capable of sharing experiences and resources in terms of educational-pedagogical responsibility;

Students
– Supporting classes in the emotional and psychological management of difficulties born or aggravated by the pandemic;
– Contribute to ensuring the full social and educational inclusion of foreign students;
– Provide specific individual accompaniment to students in particularly difficult conditions, broadening the horizon of educational opportunities with the involvement of their families.
