“MEET Generation” – Connection paths for the capability of adolescents, young people, families and communities
Doctors for Peace is a partner in the project that sees the ULSS 9 Scaligera Company of the Veneto Region as leader. The aim of this initiative is to reduce the dropout and early school leaving of minors who are reported by partner institutes and belonging to families who live in conditions of social marginality and economic hardship.
The context
Theproject aims to combat educational poverty, prevent social marginalization and take care of the new fragility of young people between 15 and 18 years old. The goal is to accompany young people in situations of hardship to find a safe and supportive sociality, emotional and educational support, school support with the help of the family and the entire educating community. A figure of “Relational Educator” is identified, with the task of supporting the beneficiaries by building ties with the territory and the community of origin and weaving alliances and support networks.
Activities
The proposal includes results in several areas:
– in the education and maturation of technical, professional and relational skills that can be spent in the community of young people. Attention is given to young foreigners and their families with cultural support for social inclusion in the community to which they belong, so it will be important to detect the number of interventions/mediation between families/young people/services;
– in the reinforcement of the family’s educational skills through accompaniment in their function and the approach to the opportunities of the services, measurable through the number of access to dedicated desks;
– in fostering relations with the community measurable with the number of people, voluntary associations and other formal and informal subjects involved spontaneously and developing relationships of proximity.
