Doctors for Peace announces the launch of a pilot project of social dentistry in Bhutan,
with the aim of ensuring access to dental care and prevention education
to populations living in contexts of geographical isolation and social vulnerability.
Bhutan has similar characteristics to Nepal, where Doctors for Peace has been operating for over a year
decade: vast mountainous areas, small and scattered villages, difficult to reach by
health services, with serious obstacles to access to dental care.
Oral pathologies are very widespread, already in childhood, and tend to worsen with
advancing age.

In autumn 2025, Doctors for Peace carried out an exploratory mission in the area
mountainous Phunaka, during which dental care was provided to students
of the Kabji Chorten Monastery Ningpo Goenzin Dratshang and the reliability and reliability of the
the professionalism of the local staff.
The project involves the setting up of a mobile dental field, which will reach the
more isolated communities. Activities include screenings, dental care and
prevention education.
