This year, this area faces the threat of the &#8220;Super El Ni\u00f1o&#8221; phenomenon, a climate emergency that threatens to aggravate the already precarious socio-economic conditions of the population, affected by internal conflicts and a lack of infrastructure and services. <\/p><p>The social and health system is severely deficient, with serious shortcomings in the provision of services, especially those dedicated to maternal and child care. Forecasts for 2026 outline a critical scenario in which El Ni\u00f1o will reduce agricultural production by up to 80% and East Africa will suffer catastrophic floods, resulting in the loss of crops and livestock. The combination of extreme weather events also causes a significant increase in the cost of food and basic necessities and reduces access to drinking water.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-993f66b e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"993f66b\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-79e32b6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"79e32b6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Activities<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-43f2bf4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"43f2bf4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li><strong>Provision of local health services through mobile clinics to protect maternal and child health:<\/strong> activation of mobile clinics with multidisciplinary teams to offer free health care, vaccinations and medicines in the most isolated villages. The intervention is aimed primarily at pregnant or breastfeeding women and children. <\/li><\/ul><p> <\/p><ul><li><strong>Emergency nutritional support for pregnant or lactating women and children under the age of 5:<\/strong> screening and growth monitoring for the early detection of malnutrition. In collaboration with local Health Departments, supplements and therapeutic foods are distributed, redirecting the most serious cases to the treatment centers available in the area. <\/li><\/ul><p> <\/p><ul><li><strong>Education on health and healthy eating in favor of the different communities affected by the intervention:<\/strong> information campaigns on health, hygiene and healthy eating led by appropriately trained community health workers.
