Of the 19.5 million inhabitants, 45% live in rural areas and, compared to the European average, Romania is one of the states with the lowest rate of urbanization, and <strong>inequalities between city and countryside<\/strong> are considerable and increasing. 70% of the rural population lives below the <strong>poverty<\/strong> line, due to the absence of a welfare system for the most vulnerable.<br>Romania allocates only 5% of GDP to the <strong>national health sector<\/strong> : the smallest share in the whole of Europe.<br>In this context, people in conditions of social marginalization and economic hardship are particularly disadvantaged, and almost <strong>half of children<\/strong> are at risk of poverty (a figure significantly higher than the average of European countries).  <\/p><p>Both <strong>local technical partners<\/strong> are based in Alba Iulia, Transylvania, <strong>an economically depressed area<\/strong> of Romania.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ae05e38 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"ae05e38\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5a41033 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5a41033\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Activities<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3a62d59 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3a62d59\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"kc-elm kc-css-178651 kc_row\"><div class=\"kc-row-container kc-container\"><div class=\"kc-wrap-columns\"><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-731658 kc_col-sm-12 kc_column kc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"kc-col-container\"><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-287586 kc_text_block\"><section class=\"kc-elm kc-css-1435164 kc_row\"><div class=\"kc-row-container kc-container\"><div class=\"kc-wrap-columns\"><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-4292180 kc_col-sm-6 kc_column kc_col-sm-6\"><div class=\"kc-col-container\"><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-1303858 kc_text_block\"><p>In order to respond to needs not adequately covered by the Romanian Welfare system, the project intends to:<br>\u2013 offer social and health rehabilitation services to minors in need, without any distinction of nationality, ethnicity, culture, sex and religion;<br>\u2013 facilitate medical and rehabilitation interventions for the minors hosted by the &#8220;Maria Beatrice&#8221; Social and Health Rehabilitation Center;<\/p><p>\u2013 offer minors and families specific psychological support;<\/p><p>\u2013 promote training, education and support courses on various areas of interest for the minors hosted by the &#8220;Sfanta Maria&#8221;
