The phenomenon produces enormous costs for the Health Service, even considering only the expenses related to hospitalization. The social costs and in terms of human suffering are undoubted and even more important.  <\/p><p>Our project aims to <strong>reduce the incidence of trauma and fractures,<\/strong> in particular those of the femur, in the elderly over 65 in the Municipality of Verona, <strong>preventing falls from accidents,<\/strong> domestic and otherwise, through a methodology focused on information and risk assessment and emergence through home interventions. <strong>The initiative is directly inspired by the guidelines offered by the Ministry of Health and rests its foundations on the evidence produced by the international literature on the subject.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2b51a27 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"2b51a27\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-82df68e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"82df68e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The project acts simultaneously on several factors:\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8ab7564 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8ab7564\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>Improvement of knowledge of the phenomenon and increase of awareness of the elderly on the issue of fall prevention.<\/li><li>Assessment of the conditions of fall risk of the elderly and environmental risk through the implementation of home interventions.<\/li><li>Analysis and evaluation of the data collected.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-85b162d e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"85b162d\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b1078bd elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b1078bd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What we have already done\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bbdf651 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bbdf651\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Since February 2014<\/strong> a first phase of testing has been started with some elderly institutionalized at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lebetulle.it\/\">&#8220;Le Betulle&#8221; Service Center for the Elderly,<\/a> who have volunteered to receive a visit from our volunteers. The visits made it possible to provide each patient with personalized advice, based on the evaluation of numerous factors including physical and mental condition. In 2014, an eye check and a hearing check were then carried out on the same sample.  <br><strong>From October to December 2014<\/strong> the Association promotes the awareness campaign &#8220;I don&#8217;t fall&#8221;, under the patronage of the Municipality of Verona, with the aim of giving maximum dissemination to the knowledge of the problem. In the same campaign, Doctors for Peace promotes the collection of adhesions of over 65 volunteers who would like to receive a free home visit for the evaluation of personal and environmental risk factors. 30 patients will be selected from the adhesions on the basis of the data provided.  <br><strong>From October 2015 to date<\/strong> , the Auser Clubs of Verona and Province, the municipalities of San Martino Buon Albergo and Oppeano, and some associations that deal with assistance to the elderly, have adopted the campaign &#8220;I don&#8217;t fall!&#8221;.<br><strong>Between June and October 2017<\/strong>, thanks to the collaboration with AGEC, we organized 14 meetings dedicated to preventing falls in the elderly.
